Things in The Office We Can All Relate To
As we will all be heading back into the office sometime soon, this week Team Affecto had a reminisce to see what we missed about office life.
Lunch is the most important decision you make.
Never in your life did you think your choice of lunch would completely dictate your working life. But somehow it does. You spend your mornings questioning what you will have, and most of your afternoons regretting the decision you made.
The temperature of the office is always up for debate.
The Temperature War! We all know that one person in the office who is never happy with the temperature, and who secretly adjusts it while no one is looking. They think they are being secretive, but we all know! This means you have one person wrapped up in all clothing they brought with them, and another completely sweltering.
Complaining day in and day out seems to be the only solution to this war.
Making tea becomes an office sport!
You never want to be the one with the mammoth task of making everyone tea. But when it is you, you are suddenly propelled into being a barrister, with expert knowledge on hot drinks and how everyone has them.
You then find yourself alone in the kitchen questioning how to carry what seems like 40 hot drinks back to the office. Your pride takes over, meaning you won’t let anyone help (you regret this decision every time, but have to stick by it now). The only comforting thought is, it’s someone elses turn to make the tea next!
Being offered free food is the highlight of the week!
Ever done that walk/run to the kitchen when someone says, ‘free food’? You’re not the only one. Secretly we spend the week waiting for the email letting you know about food in the kitchen. It’s a fact, nothing beats afternoon procrastination like a cookie or a good piece of cake.
No one can ever agree on the office music!
Music is always nice in the background of the office. But only if you can all agree on the genre! Music is proven to make people more productive, but in reality, everyone spends more time arguing over what the music should be than actually getting anything done.
There is at least one occasion where you have pretended to know what is going on in a meeting.
Ever found yourself sat nodding alone, having practically no idea what is being talked about? It’s too embarrassing to ask, but equally you don’t want to agree to something awful. Therefore, you make the split decision that to smile and nod is your best and only option at this point.
Stay Safe,
Team Affecto.
