National Egg Day

National Egg Day: 3rd June 2021

To celebrate National Egg Day, Team Affecto have been discussing our favourite type of eggs and the best place to go for them:

Craig:

Favourite way to cook eggs:

  • Poached as although I’m a keen cook I only started to poach eggs in lockdown and I’m pretty good.

Favourite meal which contains eggs:

  • Yorkshire puddings every day, if it’s an ingredient I’m using an egg for no beating it.

Favourite place to go for eggs:

  • Fave place, although I haven’t been for ages, is The Summer House. Great to walk there on a Sunday morning, have a lovely breakfast and stay long enough to have my first pint.

Natalie:

‘I am going fully controversial with this one – Eggs, I can take or leave them!’

Favourite way to cook eggs:

  • With my leftover eggs, I’d make scrambled.

Favourite meal which contains eggs:

  • I only ever buy eggs to make meatballs!

Favourite place to go for eggs:

  • Despite not going for a while, my fave place to go is Four Corners on Abbeydale Road.

Maddy:

Favourite way to cook eggs:

  • I would definitely say scrambled, especially with some smoked salmon on toast. However, as a child it was always a dippy egg with soldiers.

Favourite meal which contains eggs:

  • Ok, it’s not a meal but my favourite has to be cake or brownies or any type of baked item which includes eggs.

Favourite place to go for eggs:

  • I really enjoy going to Bills for brunch. However, as a student, it is more commonly a Wetherspoons full English the morning after a night out.

Some egg-citing facts for you…

  • To tell if an egg is raw or cooked whilst it's still whole, spin it. If it wobbles it is raw if it spins , it is cooked.
  • On land Ostriches produce the largest eggs and in the sea Whale Sharks produce the largest eggs.
  • Hens lay approx. 250-270 eggs a year, but some breeds will produce over 300.
  • The colour of the eggshell indicates the breed of hen the egg is from.
  • 40% of the World’s eggs are consumed in China.
  • Eggs are also celebrated on World Egg Day which is the 11th October.

We hope you have an egg-cellent day!

Stay Safe,

Team Affecto.
