Affecto Team Interviews: Meet Craig
This week is about Craig, our Bearded Op’s Manager. Best known for his extensive industry experience, his love of all things fun, his penchant for an alcoholic tipple or 3 but most of all for steering the good ship Affecto alongside Daniel.
Can you give me a professional overview?
I’ve spent the last 18 years of my career within Recruitment which quite literally is nearly half of my life at the ripe old age of 38, it's given me laughs, grey hair and a lot of pride among other things.
Why did you join?
Daniel and I worked together about 7 or 8 years back and we’ve been friends ever since, this has put me in a fortunate position to have watched Affecto grow and develop over the last 6 years. Before joining I’d spent 8 years building the Sheffield branch of a commercial recruiters from the ground up so at the time of looking for my next challenge I knew I needed something “special” to excite me, the logical choice was to be part of a successful business that I could add value too and that’s when my Affecto journey started.
What do you do?
As our Ops Manager I do a bit of everything, from making tea to making job offers and everything in between! On a day to day I manage our fantastic team, build our external relationships and help create and ultimately implement our strategies.
Favourite Affecto Moment?
No comment, firstly because I’ve had loads and secondly because most of those aren’t publishable!!!!
Favourite Recruitment Moment?
This is a tough question as I can’t pinpoint one specific moment, I've had loads due to a successful career. The recurring one however is when you place someone in a role and watch them grow and develop within the business, sounds cheesy but there is an enormous sense of pride knowing you’ve played a key part in someone's career by aligning them with the right company.
Favourite Holiday Destination?
Salcombe in South Devon, love it there, I’ve been going every year since I was 7 and it never gets old. I also adore Italy, the food, wine and culture always draws me back, I’m fortunate to have visited many different parts of the country and can’t wait till my next visit.
Favourite Food?
I’m food obsessed much to Dan’s dismay as I’ll regularly spam our whatsapp group with piccys so I can’t choose an overall fave but a lovely Sunday lunch with Yorkshire puds laced with gravy is always a treat.
Favourite Beverage?
Really, pick a favourite, who thought asking me this question was a good idea? So if I have to choose one, which I’m told I do, I’ll go with a really nice heavy Red wine, great on its own or with pretty much any meal.
What professional advice would you give your younger self?
Choose a company where you’ll be valued within a career that you find exciting, then work f**king hard to achieve your goals and remember to have fun doing it!
Stay Safe,
Team Affecto
