New research facility opens at Sheffield AMRC
Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing and Research Centre is set to welcome a new factory research cell to help smaller businesses to use its resources.
With the goal to give smaller businesses the opportunity to conduct machining and assembly research in a safe environment, the cell, Factory 2050, is the AMRC’s latest development in conducting collaborative research.
Factory 2050, which was built for the Integrated Manufacturing Group (IMG) will be able to accommodate projects from trialling new robotic assembly techniques to component assembly and finish machining.
The cell will be up and running by the end of Autumn 2017.
Daniel Koseoglu, MD at Affecto said: “The cell will allow SME’s to take advantage of the AMRC’s state of the art capabilities and world class research.
“More and more small businesses will be able to use the research centre to grow and innovate, which will ultimately feed back into the manufacturing and technology sectors in the city, fuelling economic growth, and creating more jobs for skilled individuals.”
